Existing Leads can be converted to Contacts and Accounts by right-clicking on the desired Lead row header.
Convert Leads: Each selected Lead will be converted to a NEW Account and a NEW Contact
- NO checking is done to see if a matching Contact or Account exists
- Single or multiple rows can be highlighted and converted at once
Convert to Existing Contact/Account: Selected Lead will be converted to a matching Contact or a NEW Contact will be created on an Existing Account
- Available when selecting a SINGLE row only
- Applies default search criteria to return a list of suggested matches
- Option to manually enter search criteria
Convert Leads
Lead Conversion Settings will be displayed when this option is selected.
1. New Contact/Account Owner: The user who will own the NEW Contact and NEW Accounts records in Salesforce
- Lead Owner or select from a drop-down list of active salesforce users
- The conversion will FAIL if the the Lead is owned by a queue and the Lead Owner option is selected
2. Opportunity Options: Check the box if an Opportunity should be created upon conversion
- Option to enter text or use the "Company" Name as the Opportunity Name
3. Converted Lead Status: Select a status from the drop down list
- The list will ONLY display statuses marked as available for converted leads as per the Salesforce picklist options
- If Lead Record Types are used, ensure there is an active Lead Process that contains any selected converted Lead Status Value
4. Notification: Notifications can be created for the NEW Contact owner
- Send an email notification (Salesforce standard "Converted Lead" notification will be used)
- Create a Task for the Contact Owner
- Task Subject and Description can be modified if desired
5. Convert Selected: Select to perform the conversion
Note: Conversions are IMMEDIATE and there are NO RESTORE FILES for conversions nor is there an "unconvert" option.
The following information will be written to the logfile after the conversion is complete noting the ID of the Lead that was converted and the NEW Contact/Account/Opportunity ID that was created:

Convert to Existing Contact/Account
Right-clicking on the row header for a SINGLE record and selecting Convert to Existing Contact/Account will display a pop-up with suggested Contact/Account matches along with the ability to apply custom search criteria to find other possible Contact/Account matches.
1. Suggested Records: An automatic search will be done based on the fields displayed in the grid to look for matching Contacts based on:
- Exact email
- LastName startswith {last name data} AND FirstName startswith first letter of {first name data} AND Account.Name startswith first word {account.name data}
- Company name on the Lead will be matched to the Account.Name field
- If no matching Contacts are found then manual searches can be done using the Search for Contacts or Search for Accounts tabs (see next section for more details)
Note: A minimum of Last Name or Email is required to perform a search (e.g. an error will be displayed if neither of these fields is displayed in the grid). First Name and/or Account.Name will only be used if included in the grid.
- Converted Lead Status: Select a status from the drop down list
- The list will ONLY display statuses marked as available for converted leads as per the Salesforce picklist options
- If Lead Record Types are used, ensure there is an active Lead Process that contains any selected converted Lead Status Value
- Use Record: Select the appropriate radio button to pick a suggested contact then click this option to complete the conversion
- The Lead will be converted and merged INTO the existing Contact and its associated Account
Search for Contacts/Search for Accounts
1. Pick the desired tab
2. Enter search criteria
3. Select Search to find the Suggested Records
Contact searching is performed using the same logic as the automatic search initially done for suggested Contacts except uses the criteria provided in the search window vs. the data that is on the Lead (the fields displayed in the grid):
- Exact email
- LastName startswith {last name data} AND FirstName startswith first letter of {first name data} AND Account.Name startswith first word {account.name data}
- Company name on the Lead will be matched to the Account.Name field
Note: A minimum of Last Name or Email is required to perform a search.
Account searching is done using the criteria provided in the search window as follows:
- Account Name startswith {account name data} AND Billing City startswith {city data} AND Billing State startswith {state data} and Website contains the {website data}
Note: A minimum of 3 letters for Account Name is required to perform a search.
To perform the conversion select the radio button for the desired record, pick a Converted Lead Status and select Use Record
- If a matching Contact record was selected the Lead will be converted and merged INTO the existing Contact and its associated Account
- If just a matching Account was selected (no matching Contact found) then the Lead will be converted into a NEW Contact on the matching Account
- No options are provided for creating Opportunities, tasks, sending emails, or picking the Contact Owner (NEW Contacts only)
- No opportunity is created
- No Tasks are created
- Email notification will not be sent
- If a new contact was created it will be owned by whomever owned the Lead
