What is a registry file?
Registry files store the login and proxy information as entered on the login screen and all DemandTools options set under "General Settings" and "File Paths.”
Registry files are a necessity for users whom:
- Log in to multiple Salesforce Orgs
- Run scheduled jobs
- Use JobBuilder
- Require different DemandTools options to be enabled for specific scenarios
Best Practices:
- Create a registry file for each org you access
- This simple step is essential to ensure data integrity is maintained
- Stop using the default DemandTools login icon
- The default icon will absorb the credentials of the last registry file used to log in making it difficult to verify which org is being accessed.
- Create a registry file without saved login credentials
- This will now be the icon used when choosing to enter login credentials and replaces the default DemandTools icon.
- Recreate all registry files after a DemandTools version upgrade
- Upgrades mean change – it is important to refresh these files with DemandTools’ most current settings.
- The creation of a registry file takes only minutes
- Scheduled jobs: specify a Salesforce Instance for each job/scenario
- JobBuilder: The option, DemandTools as last logged in, should only be used by users whom never access more than one Salesforce org
