QUESTION:
A task was created by DemandTools with the subject "DemandTools Error". What are these and is there something I need to do?
ANSWER:
These tasks are created any time DemandTools encounters an unexpected error which causes it to shut down. The unexpected error will only remain in the User Interface for 10 seconds then the application will close. The purpose of the task is to alert the user that was running DemandTools that an error did occur as they may have been away from their PC at the time of the error and therefore did not see the pop-up message.
To investigate the cause of the shut down please send us the Logfile from the day the task was created and Stacktrace file noted in the body of the task, for example:
******
Comments :
An unhandled DemandTools error occurred: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
A trace of the error can be found in the file: C:\Users\Laurie Hanlon\Documents\DemandToolsData\LogFiles\00D300000000GiREAU\DemandToolsStackTrace_Feb182014_2.dtst
******
Both files can be found in your my documents/DemandToolsData/LogFiles folder.
Depending on the nature of the error and information tracked in the logfile additional information may be requested as to what the user may have been doing at the time that the error occurred.
NOTE: There is no way to disable the creation of these tasks, nor would you want to, as these errors are indicative of a problem processing your request.
