By implementing a matching ID in the form of either an X-header or an equivalent tag in the body of your email campaigns, you can assist Everest in uniquely identifying your campaigns.
X-header
Your email service provider (ESP) may already include an X-header you can use to identify your mail. When you send your first inbox test to the Everest Seed List, your test result will show you whether your ESP has the appropriate X-header. (See Where do I find my X-header in Everest?)
- If there is a value under the X-250ok-CID column, you're ready to go and don't need to do anything further.
- If no value is listed under X-250ok-CID, we recommend you include an additional X-header named X-250ok-CID with a unique value for each campaign. You will need to work with your ESP to include this header. Examples are listed below.
Body tag
If your ESP doesn't have the ability to inject a header into outgoing email, we offer the ability to embed a tag in the HTML body of your email. Simply include, anywhere in the body, a tag that looks like this:

Again, make sure your ID is unique for each campaign.
Creating the matching X-header or body tag
Some best practices for creating a unique value for your header or body tag include:
- X-header or body tag names and values are case-sensitive.
- Do not include any spaces in the value.
- Prefix your campaign value with a company name or nickname.
- Consider including a timestamp in your value to help ensure uniqueness. For example: acme_202010221045 or acme_2020-10-22-1045
Everest will look for the following X-header types by default:
- X-250ok-CID
- X-rpcampaign
- rpcampaign
- X-PVIQ
- X-Campaign-ID
- X-CampaignID
- x-job
Everest can also accept the following X-header types with a Validity Support request:
- Tag-id
- X-10pl8ID
- X-Campaign
- X-Campaign_ID
- x-cid
- X-eC-messenger-mid
- X-EMarSys-Identify
- x-jobid
- X-Listid
- X-MailingID
- X-NSS
Settings
Inbox Placement includes a few configurable settings for X-header. To change these settings, select Customize from the Overview tab. This will open the Inbox Settings slideout.
- On the Display Preferences tab, under Inbox Tests: Default Columns, check the box beside X-Header to display the X-header in the Inbox Tests table. Select Save.
- On the Header Matching tab, toggle on the Copy to new child accounts switch to have child accounts inherit the matching X-header or body tag from the parent account.
- To hide the matching X-header or body tag from child accounts, toggle on Hide from child accounts.
