If you need to change or update the API name for an object in Salesforce, any GridBuddy Connect grids that reference this object will be affected and will need to be rebuilt.
Steps to update an object API name in Salesforce:
- Note the old and new API names for the object in question.
- Go to Setup > Object Manager and find the object you need to update.
- Open Details.
- Select Edit.
- Update the Object Name label.
- Select Save.
Steps to rebuild an affected grid in GridBuddy Connect:
- Before starting to rebuild a grid, capture the grid's current configuration in full, if possible, so you can recreate it accurately.
- We recommend you take screenshots of the grid configuration under Manage Grids, including all selected fields and defined filters.

- Refresh your GridBuddy Connect metadata. To do this:
- Go to Organization > Connections and find the connection for this Salesforce org.
- Scroll down to Test Connection and select it.
- You should see these messages at the top of the screen:
- Your changes have been saved.
- Connection Test and User Information Retrieval Successful.
- You should see these messages at the top of the screen:
- Select Refresh Metadata and then Continue to confirm.
- You should see this message at the top of the screen:
- Metadata retrieval is in progress for this connection. The Grid and Grid Wizard will not reflect the latest metadata until this process is completed. Once completed, this message will not show. Refresh for an updated status.
- If this connection has not finished refreshing metadata after 5 minutes, click unlock and try refreshing again.
- After a short time, try refreshing via the link in the message.
- Once the process is complete, the Metadata Refreshed row should be updated with the current date and time, and Last Metadata Refresh Status should say OK.
- You should see this message at the top of the screen:
- Rebuild a grid that references this object. To do this:
- Make sure you have your screenshots or notes nearby for the rebuilding process.
- Go to Manage Grids and select the grid you need to update.
- If you see the object listed in the Parent Object dropdown menu, refresh the page.
- The Parent Object dropdown menu should now be blank. Find the object that has been updated and select it.
- You will see the message, "Changing the parent object will clear all field selections, filters, and settings defined for this grid. Proceed?"
- Once you are confident you have the screenshots and notes you need, select OK and then Next.
- Select your fields and define your filters as you had them set up before and save your configuration. Your grid is now ready for use.
- Repeat these steps with each grid that needs to be rebuilt.
