A tracking pixel is a piece of HTML code that you place into the body of an email. It lets you collect and track data about different ways subscribers may interact with your email such as what images rendered and where the subscribers clicked in the email itself. It is typically very small (1x1) and is invisible to the email recipient.
A tracking pixel can collect information such as:
- The subscribers who open the email
- The email clients they use
- The browser they use
- The time the email was opened
- The location where the email was opened
- The number of times the email was opened
- Cookie ID number for tracking website activity
- The email subject line
- Campaign type (e.g. newsletter, abandoned cart, receipt)
- List segment
- Demographic data
