A queue is a storage location on an email server for email waiting to be processed.
Queuing can take place at two stages:
- When you send an email campaign, the email is sent for processing and placed in the queue until it is ready to be sent to mailbox providers.
- Once the email is received by the mailbox provider, the email is placed in the queue for processing until it is ready to be delivered to subscribers.
The queuing process usually only takes a few seconds, but it may take longer when:
- A large number of email addresses are involved
- The emails are being scanned by anti-virus and anti-spam software
