Some Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) servers are configured to reject your email if the reverse Domain Name System (rDNS) does not match the HELO.
It is a best practice to match the HELO and rDNS host name as a part of a properly configured email infrastructure.
However, mailbox providers place more emphasis on IP address and domain reputation for filtering decisions; therefore, a HELO and reverse Domain Name System (rDNS) host name mismatch by itself is unlikely to result in deliverability problems. We still recommend that you follow best practices and make sure the rDNS matches the HELO.
