2. DMARC reports forwarding
DMARC is an email technical specification leveraging the SPF and DKIM authentication standards and was created to help protect domains from fraudulent activity. DMARC is required for the reports forwarding integration to work.
a. Set up DMARC forwarding address
To set up or edit your DMARC record, contact your email administrator, ESP or hosting provider and provide them the information below. Adding these addresses to your DMARC record with this exact format forwards DMARC reports to Everest.
- rua=mailto:dmarc_agg@dmarc.everest.email
- ruf=mailto:dmarc_fr@dmarc.everest.email
When this information is added to a DMARC record, it looks like this.
- v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc_agg@dmarc.everest.email; ruf=mailto:dmarc_fr@dmarc.everest.email; fo=1; pct=100; rf=afrf
Important! The example above is for illustrative purposes only. Your DMARC record may have different tag values based on your internal policies and should not be changed. For example, your p= value may be “p=quarantine” or “p=reject” rather than “p=none”.
b. Set up integration
When your DMARC record is set up with the forwarding addresses as shown above:
1. Log in to Everest
2. Navigate to My Everest and click Monitoring – Infrastructure
3. Click Domains & Policies
4. Click New Domains
5. Enter your domain name at the bottom of the page
6. Click Save Domain
-
- If you have multiple DMARC domains, you can also cut and paste or upload a .CSV file by clicking on the Paste Domains and Upload Domains tabs.
7. View your forwarded DMARC data in Everest by navigating to Monitoring: Infrastructure.
3. Competitive Intelligence: Add competitors (not available for all plans)
Make a list of your top 3-5 competitors and obtain the domain from their websites.
1. Login to Everest
2. Navigate to Pre-Send and click Competitive Intel
3. Click New Search
4. Enter one of your competitor’s domains to get started
5. Click Next
- From the list of available domain names, Competitive Intel automatically selects the top domains to track based on the volume percentage of email seen at that domain.
6. Select other domains to track by clicking the check box. You can always change which domains to track later if the email from a domain is not useful.
7. Click Save Selection
- The domain you just added appears
8. Repeat steps 1-7 for your other top 4 competitors
