What is the Certification for Mandated Mail program?
Certification for Mandated Mail helps businesses send (potentially) time-sensitive and high-risk messages that are intended to inform their customers of critical, non-promotional information related to a triggering event that necessitates a material response. These essential messages inform recipients of critical events and should only be used for one-time notifications that are an exception to normal sending practices and cadences.
How does Certification for Mandated Mail work?
For each event, customers must pass the mandated mailing qualification process. Validity will review your case and vet your email campaign creative for compliance, providing guidance
Once compliance is confirmed, Validity will send advance notice of customer content to our trusted global mailbox provider partnerships 48 hours prior to the start of the event.
Upon completion of send, participants will receive third-party proof via certificate validating they used best efforts to fulfill their duty of care responsibilities. This Certification of Coverage is provided to the sender to share with third parties for audit review purposes.
Can I receive Certification benefits?
If you are already a Certified sender, mandated events can receive Certification benefits for your dedicated IP addresses.
- Existing Certified IPs must continue to adhere to the Certification Requirements.
- IPs that are dedicated but are not Certified will undergo an audit and be added your Certification account for the length of the event. Once complete, the IP will be removed from your account.
- If promotional mail is paused during the mandated event:
- A hold will be placed on enforcement of your compliance metrics for the length of the event.
- You will also be able to track the individual performance of your mandated event in your Certification dashboard, since all other mail is paused.

If you are not certified or sending from a shared IP address, you can still get the benefits of Mandated Mail.

How do I apply?
- Download the questionnaire PDF and send an email to certification@validity.com with the questionnaire filled out.
- Submit a request through the Help Center form. Select Certification and then Mandated Event for the type of request. You will be required to provide:
- Type of Event
- Justification of Event
- Target Volume
- Date and Timeframe of Send
- Subject Line
- IP address(es)
- Domains: sending domain, return path, dkim, friendly from
- ESP
- Attachment field for Campaign
- Message screenshots (Please attach full copies or screenshots of the entire email creative for Validity approval)

Customer may accept or decline to use Beta Services as presented in the Services in its sole discretion. Beta Services are for evaluation purposes only, and Customer agrees to be bound by any additional terms applicable to the Beta Services as provided by Validity. Validity provides no warranties for any of the Beta Services, and Validity has no obligation to correct or repair any Beta Services. Validity reserves the right to fully or partially discontinue Beta Services at any time and for any reason, temporarily or permanently, with or without notice. Validity shall have no liability to Customer or any third party for any harm or damage arising out of or in connection with any of the Beta Services.
