MassBackup is ONLY available when running the 32bit version of DemandTools (64bit version does not support .mdb files). Users running the 64bit version of DemandTools should use the BulkBackup module instead.
The DemandTools MassBackup module allows the user to create an automatic .mdb (Microsoft Access 2003) backup of their salesforce data on their local computer. The .mdb database that is created is fully relational and useful for analytics, data security and different types of integrations.
Since MassBackup ONLY writes to a .mdb database, it may not be a viable backup solution for larger customers/databases as it is subject to the limits of .mdb databases some of which are:
- Access will not allow more than 255 fields to be defined for a particular object
- The overall size of the resulting .mdb file also cannot exceed 2GB

MassEffect can also be used to export data from any individual table and multiple file types are supported for a MassEffect export (e.g. xls, xlsx, csv etc). Additionally MassEffect allows for only specific records to be exported, as well as provides the ability to choose which fields should be exported.
