QUESTION:
How can I use Object Count in MassImpact to count the number of Contacts on Accounts?
*Note: This example focuses on counting contacts, other sub-objects can be counted using the same Object Count function in MassImpact. Simply use the steps below, but instead of contacts select the object you wish to count.
ANSWER:
The object count tab in MassImpact can be used in many ways. Using it to count the number of Contacts on Accounts is one of our most requested object counts. If you need to count another object, make sure you use that object instead of contacts.
- Create a custom field (can be a number field) on your Account table named Contact Count
- Open MassImpact-Choose Account as the object to change
- Select fields to view on the verification/results screen (be sure to choose the newly created field, Contact Count)
- Screen 2 top portion, to count the Contacts on all Accounts use the generic where statement of Account ID != (then leave the value field blank), and click "Add Condition"
- Screen 2 bottom portion, choose Contact Count field as the field to update
- Click the Object Count tab and select Contacts-click "Add to Set Conditions"
- Go to screen 3 and click the "Find Matches" button and view changes
- Process all, some or none of the changes.
