QUESTION:
I have about 100,000 Account records in my Salesforce org, but when I run my dedupe scenarios it only seems to download a portion of my records. What am I doing wrong?
ANSWER:
When running de-dupe passes (or any module that uses matching, e.g. Find/Report ID's) DemandTools will only download the records for comparison where the fields being matched upon are populated. This is one of the main reasons we recommend a multiple pass dedupe strategy.
Example 1:
The scenario is matching (or comparing) on the following fields; Company Name, Zip/Postal Code, and City. DemandTools will only download records that have a populated Company Name, Zip/Postal Code and City.
Example 2:
The scenario is matching (or comparing) on the following fields; Company Name, Zip/Postal Code with the "Match Blank" checkbox selected, and City. The “MatchBlank” option can be used to download records where the specified field(s) is blank. A match will only be found if all other fields being matched on (that do not have "Match Blank" checked) are populated and BOTH records DO NOT have a Zip/Postal Code populated (matching the blank to the blank).
To match a blank value to a populated field remove this item from the fields on which to match/compare and view the field in the results grid.
