Step 1: Create your GridBuddy Connect Account
- For the User that will be Administering the GridBuddy Connect account:
- You will receive an email to Activate your Account, which will prompt you to set a password and log into GridBuddy Connect.
Step 2: Configure the Connection & Create ReadyGrids
- Clicking the activation link and setting a password will take you to the connection creation page. This is where you will configure your Salesforce connection.
- Make sure the “Active” checkbox is checked.
- Click the “Create ReadyGrids” checkbox to auto-create pre-defined ReadyGrids for our most popular use cases.
- Change the Authentication type to "Oauth" - this is Validity's recommended way to authenticate your grids. If you prefer to use Username and Password, enter your Salesforce username, password, and security token to configure a connection to your Salesforce instance. If you don’t know your Security Token – you can reset it (and the new one will be sent to you via email).
- Click Save
Step 3: Add Admin User(s) to GridBuddy Connect
- Go to Organization > User Management > Manage Users to create any Users who will doing Admin- or Standard-level configuration tasks.
- Users viewing and editing the grid data in Salesforce that do NOT need Grid Wizard access will be seamlessly authenticated from Salesforce and auto created as Basic users in GridBuddy Connect.
Note: If you choose to set your end-users up manually, they will receive an automatically-generated email with a link to activate their account. If they do not click ‘activate’, they will not be able to view any grids.
Step 4: Install the GridBuddy Connect Managed Package Into Your Salesforce Org
- To add GridBuddy Connect to your Salesforce org, download the managed package into the Org of your choice.
- Install for “All Users".
Step 5: Configure the GridBuddy Connect Managed Package
- To create a connection from the GridBuddy Connect managed package in Salesforce to your GridBuddy Connect org, launch the GridBuddy Connect app in Salesforce and click on the “GridBuddyConnectSettings” tab.
- Create a new record where the Name = “Default” and paste the org ID copied from your GridBuddy Connect org (see step 3 below).
- The GridBuddy Connect org ID can be found in GridBuddy Connect, under gridbuddyconnect.com/organization/ settings.
Step 6: Use GridBuddy Connect in Salesforce
- In the “GridBuddy Connect” app, select the “GridBuddy Connect Grids” Tab.
- You will see the ReadyGrids and any other grids you’ve created in your GBC org.
- You can select grids from the dropdown menu and manipulate the data.
