This guide will walk you through the GridBuddy Connect registration process, installing the Salesforce app, setting up seamless authentication within your Salesforce org, and accessing your grids. If you have any questions, contact your Customer Success Manager or Validity Support.
STEP 1 - Create your GridBuddy Connect Account
- For the user that will be administering the GridBuddy Connect account, you will receive an email to Activate your Account, which will prompt you to set a password and log into GridBuddy Connect.
STEP 2 – Configure the Connection & Create ReadyGrids
- Clicking the email activation link and setting a password will take you to the connection creation page. This is where you will configure the connection between your Salesforce org and GridBuddy Connect.
- Make sure the Active checkbox is checked.
- Click the Create ReadyGrids checkbox to auto-create pre-defined ReadyGrids for our most popular use cases.
- Select your authentication type: Our recommendation is to use Oauth to connect GridBuddy Connect to your Salesforce instance.
- Alternatively, you can enter your Salesforce username, password, and security token to configure the connection. If you don't know your security token, you can reset it and the new one will be sent to you via email).
- Click Save.
Authentication Notes:
-
All grid users will see an Oauth authentication popup the first time they view a grid from each connection.
-
If a grid pulls from multiple connections, they will see an authentication popup for EACH connection. They must be sure to use the appropriate login information to authenticate each connection.
-
Please also note that they will be prompted to reauthenticate based on Salesforce session time out limits.
STEP 3 – Add Admins to GridBuddy Connect
- Go to Organization > User Management to create any Users who will doing Admin- or Standard-level configuration tasks.
- Select Manage Users.
- Select Invite User.
- Add first name, last name, and email address, assign role Admin or Standard, and assign product access to GridBuddy Connect. Toggle on Admin access in product if needed.
- They will receive an email with a link to activate their account. If they do not click ‘activate’, they will not get access to GridBuddy Connect.
You do not need to set up any additional users. When they view a grid in Salesforce for the first time, they will be seamlessly authenticated from Salesforce and automatically created as Grid Users in GridBuddy Connect.
- This is configured via the “gbc setting=default” in step 5 below.
STEP 4 - Install the GridBuddy Connect Managed Package into your Salesforce Org
- Install the managed package from https://www.validity.com/downloads-gridbuddyconnect/ into the Salesforce org of your choice.
- IMPORTANT: Make sure you install the app for All Users.
- This will install the app with correct settings for any user you grant a GridBuddy Connect license to.
- It will NOT give all users access to the app.
- If you do not install the app for all users, you may have to do a lot of manual permission updates before your users can correctly access the app.

Troubleshooting your GridBuddy Connect Grids
- If a user can’t access grids:
- Confirm that the GridBuddy Connect User record information (esp. email) matches their Salesforce User record.
- Check the GridBuddy Connect User store if User was created.
- Make sure you’ve created the GridBuddy Connect Settings record = default, as specified in step 5 above. Make sure there are no typos, it contains the correct GridBuddy Connect org ID, and that there is no more than 1 Default record.
- If your grids don’t look right, or you see an error, turn on the browser Inspect Element and check the Console for any errors.
- If you're switching between multiple GridBuddy Connect orgs, you will need to consciously log out of GridBuddy Connect. You'll see "No such grid exists" error if there's a conflict between orgs.
- If you still can’t figure it out, send us a Support ticket at support@validity.com with the following information:
- Summary of the issue
- Step by step instructions to reproduce it
- Screenshots of the issue
- URL of the page where the issue occurs

Why can’t I login to my new GridBuddy Connect account?
After you register for GridBuddy Connect, you’ll receive an email to both verify your email address and activate your account. If you don’t click the “Activate your Account” link, you will not be able to login to GridBuddy Connect. Check your spam folder if you don’t see the email immediately after registering.
Once you’ve activated your account, you’ll get another email confirmation, which means you’re ready to start building grids. Make sure you download the Salesforce App (instructions available here) so you can access everything from Salesforce.
