This guide provides instructions for migrating GridBuddy-related content into GridBuddy Connect.
Step 1: Confirm your migration plan with your Validity Account Executive
- You will have access to both GridBuddy AND GridBuddy Connect while you complete your migration.
Step 2: Ensure you have installed the GridBuddy Connect managed package
- Go to https://www.validity.com/downloads-gridbuddyconnect/ to download the package.
- Open the startup guide and follow the instructions beginning at Step 2. This process will install the managed package, set permissions, and link your Salesforce org to your GridBuddy Connect account.
Step 3: Ensure you are on the latest version of GridBuddy
- If you are not, you can download the latest version at the Salesforce AppExchange.
Step 4: Export ?your grids from GridBuddy
- To complete the migration, we recommend the use of DemandTools. If you are not a current DemandTools customer, download your free trial here.
- Additional information on getting started with DemandTools:
- Select Export from the module list on your Dashboard.
- Under the Object to Export dropdown, select the GridBuddy_Settings__c object.
- In the Record Selection Criteria section, you can exclude all user-defined filters. (If you want to include user-defined filters, skip this step.)
- Choose Add Selection Condition.
- Set Field to default definition.
- Set Operator to =.
- Set Values to TRUE.
- Select Save and Close.
- In the Fields to Export section, choose Select All.
- Select Export [x] Records. You must name your document under Save As, select a location, and choose a file format (.csv or .xlsx).
Important: Do not open this file. If you open it in Excel, some data may be cut off, which will result in an error when you try to import the file.
If you use Tabbed Pages, continue to Step 5. Otherwise, skip to Step 6.
Step 5: Export your Tabbed Pages from GridBuddy
- Return to the Object to Export dropdown and select the GB_Global_Meta__c object.
- In the Record Selection Criteria section:
- Choose Add Selection Condition.
- Set Field to Type. You may need to expand an object to select the field.
- Set Operator to =.
- Set Values to Tabbed Page.
- Select Save and Close.
- In the Fields to Export section, choose Select All.
- Select Export [x] Records. You must name your document under Save As, select a location, and choose a file format (.csv or .xlsx).
Important: Do not open this file. If you open it in Excel, some data may be cut off, which will result in an error when you try to import the file.
Step 6: Import your grids into GridBuddy Connect
- Login to Gridbuddy Connect and navigate to Organization > Connections.
- Select the connection you want to import the grids and tabbed pages into.
- Select Import Grids at the bottom of the screen.
- A popup will appear. Choose Select file and select your GridBuddy_Settings export.
- Select Import.
- You will see a success message, and your grids will now appear within the Manage Grids section of GridBuddy Connect.
- If you use Tabbed Pages, continue to Step 7. Otherwise, skip to the note.
Step 7: Import your Tabbed Pages into GridBuddy Connect
- Import the GB_Global_Meta file by selecting Import Tabbed Pages at the bottom of the Connection page.
- A popup will appear. Choose Select file and select your GB_Global_Meta export.
- Select Import.
- You will see a success message, and your tabbed pages will now appear under Manage Grids > Manage Tabbed Pages.
Important Note: If you have used the GridBuddy Lightning Component, you will need to manually replace it with the GridBuddy Connect Lightning Component. This includes grids that have been embedded onto Salesforce page layouts or onto Salesforce tabs. Below are instructions for how to do this.

- Embedding GridBuddy Connect onto Salesforce lightning tabs ("Workspaces")
If you need migration support, submit a ticket and attach your GridBuddy Settings/GB Global Meta files to the ticket. Be sure to indicate that your support request is related to the migration.
