Actions can be added to your grids to incorporate additional Salesforce functions, such as ‘Chatter’ or ‘Send email’. All GridBuddy Connect Actions must point to a URL. In this example, we will add ‘send email’ to an Opportunity grid.
- Go to GridBuddy Connect Wizard and click ‘manage actions’
- Click ‘create a new action’
- Name the action: “Opportunity - send email”
- Select the type ‘single record’. This will add the action to the three vertical dots to the left of each grid record.
- Select the Connection. This will make this action available only to grids built off this datasource.
- Select the object ‘Opportunity’. This will make this action available to all Opportunity grids built off this datasource.
- Select the display behavior: window overlay.
- Select the URL Content Source.
- Paste your version of this URL into the Content field: https://soleng.my.salesforce.com/_ui/core/email/author/EmailAuthor
- Be sure to modify the first part of the URL to match your own org
- Paste this into the ID Parameter field: p3_lkid
- Click ‘save’
- Go to GridBuddy Connect Wizard and click ‘manage grids’
- Select the Opportunity grid to which you’d like to add this action
- Navigate to step 2 and scroll to the bottom. You’ll see a list of all actions in this datasource. Check the box beside the Opportunity –Send Email action
- Click ‘save’
- Open the grid, either by clicking the link at the top-right of the wizard, or from the GridBuddy Connect Grids tab
- Click the three vertical dots to the left of any grid record
- Select the ‘send email’ action
- Your email will open in a new window
